Back in the early 80’s when I was a kid, letter writing was huge. Just like the classic BFF necklace and Friendship Bracelets, Pen Pals were all the rage, and it was great for me because my family moved around from state to state. Consequently, I became kind of addicted to writing letters. The content was light. Mostly I’d ask questions like, “What’s your favorite color?” (Mine was always red) or “Who’s your favorite New Kid On The Block?” (Joey, of course). The body of the letter consisted of, “How are you?” (Naturally followed by ‘I’m fine’) and the burning question, “So, what did you do today?” (Girl stuff, I’m sure).
I was sure to personalize each letter to the max. We’d include pictures of ourselves and usually a few stickers or a movie ticket stub. You know, something special and authentic.
Lately, I’ve been into the idea of doing more of what I enjoyed as a kid, so I decided to launch a new series. “Admired, An Interview with Scarlet Chamberlin,” harkens back to that old letter writing tradition. We’re interviewing women who inspire us (which let’s face it, that topic never gets old). And instead of taking a traditional fashion approach with questions like, “Who’s your favorite designer?” we’re making things a little more intimate, a little more spirited.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of these women. And in the process of getting familiar with the depths of their closets, I got to peek into their passions, their vivacity, their souls. They are brilliant, dynamic women, making an incredible impact in their own way. It would be a shame to keep them to myself! So get ready guys and gals, my new Interview Series is just a wink away, and who better to air their dirty laundry first than yours truly…Stay tuned!
Love,
Scarlet
