Katie Burnett is a graceful creature. She loves organic signature jewels and modern metal medallions. She’ll go from boho chic to party girl in the course of a day, and is no stranger to multiple outfits packed in her purse for that impromptu change. With a career in marketing at Imbibe Magazine, she has all sorts of events to wear a dress to.
Katie has a travel schedule on par with the coolest of cosmopolitan jet-setters, (she’s pretty much on a first name basis with her frequent flyer representative)… This month, she’s got 3 weddings to attend! We had already dialed in her current wardrobe – a mix of vintage, local and designer finds – however, she wanted new dresses for these very special occasions (what lady wouldn’t?)! With very little time to spare, she asked for assistance and I was happy to oblige. Using Pinterest, I created a shopping guide for Katie complete with working links, blurbs of advice in my own words, and ability to volley some feedback. Success! Katie purchased three of the dresses I pinned for her and was over the moon with her new items. Here’s how we styled them:

Look 1 is simple, yet classically feminine. For an outdoor wedding in Montana, stretching from afternoon into the night, we had to be considerate with the accessories. The shoe needed to be somewhat “all-terrain” if you will, so I suggested these metallic Fiel Young sandals from Halo. I also thought styling in some sunglasses to combat the Big Sky State’s impressive rays seemed equally necessary. These optic-grade, Raen Sunglasses available at Communion PDX, were the perfect addition. They would be outside on location the entire time and she was set to give a speech. With a blue-grass band booked, and a barn in the background, she wanted a dress that wasn’t too over the top, but still on trend. The inverted pleats on this one provide the perfect silhouette; one dress down, two to go!
Look 2 is a bit more edgy and romantic. Meant for the rehearsal dinner the night before, Katie wanted something interesting and unique. The lace and mesh detailing along with its deep red color, were perfect for a fall wedding. I maxed out its elegance with plenty of gold in tow, suggesting a layered ring from Una, and another beloved design by Clare Vivier for the clutch. If you are going to be privy to so many idyllic anecdotes of true love and sentimental mush and gush, why not go for the most charming version of yourself? This was definitely Katie’s!
Look 3 brings Katie to Chicago. These nuptials could be better anticipated as a short and sweet ceremony, turned party of the season. Knowing the celebration would bring her well into the wee hours of the morning, this one needed to be comfortable. Her request, “Something bright, modern and awesome…”. The bodice on this dress is just that with its faux leather detailing and shimmery metallic. Throw in a cage heel, a candy pink clutch, and a smear of orangey-red lipstick, and you’re the sweetest thing next to the cake!
