Currently I’m working with a film maker who needs to be polished and professional for different events world-wide, while still remaining appropriately undone for Portland. Finding interchangeable basics that can be dressed up or down seems to be key for any professional man’s wardrobe, as well as finding a few signature pieces: the perfect shoes, a great watch, and a go-to blazer. Boutiques offer a different kind of experience where you get to know your local shop owners and the designers behind some truly beautiful creations. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can discover unique pieces that no one else will have.
I wanted to highlight my personal favorite boutiques, categorized by a variety of styles, different with each new feature, and specific to my most-loved cities. We begin here in Portland, and with a journey mapped out for The Fashionable Male.
Frances May: This boutique bridges the gap between trend and timeless, elegance and edge.
Communion: Fun and modern with a hint of hipster. With skate brands, local designers, and some really amazing shop girls, you can’t go wrong here.
Bridge & Burn: Plenty of great basics, you can get a good foundation going at Bridge & Burn. Practical, quality and comfortable are three words that describe what’s in store for you here.
Duchess Clothier: This shop has a truly insightful staff. Offering both, off-the-rack and custom suits, Duchess will have your most dapper self drawn up in no time. They’ll even help you dial in your tie-tieing and pocket square folding techniques!
Canoe: My favorite line of watches, Uniform Wares lives here!
Lizard Lounge: Here you’ll find a unique vibe, a lot of amazing jeans, and a killer shoe selection. They even have a ping-pong table and coffee house in-store if you need to reset your energy.
