The Emmy’s got me thinking about stylish female characters…
Our recent Swedish themed stay-cation included a marathon viewing of the television series called Annika Bengzton, Crime Reporter on Netflix. Released in 2012, cool-as-can-be Malin Crépin (the Swedish actress who plays the protagonist) with her signature style, must have influenced Annika’s tomboy look for the show. Her wardrobe choices are still relevant to us ladies who like to keep our closets interchangeable, our clothes functional and our look minimal. Check it:
Malin plays Annika, a tabloid journalist juggling a family and a fast paced career. She is on the move, solving crimes, exposing bad guys, traveling all over Europe at the last minute getting herself in to dangerous situations… oh, and, she manages to drop the kids off at school and cooks dinner for her and her husband sometimes. She’s compassionate, dark, committed, and smart. She often wears the same outfit over the course of one episode which spans several days. So what are the must-haves in her wardrobe?
- A Tote Bag big enough to hold a laptop, pen & paper, snacks, and an extra pair of underwear.
- She lives in Sweden where a gorgeous Knit Scarf is a necessity.
- Her favorite White T-Shirt to throw on under her leather jacket or blazer, or to wear with jeans and converse to the playground.
- Edgy Denim that fit her hips and allow her to sprint, lunge, and sit on the plane comfortably.
- Jewelry to layer with – understated, sentimental, a little color, and no bling to attract attention from criminals.
- A Leather Jacket.
- A stylish pair of supportive Ankle Boots.
- Beauty essentials like eyeliner, tinted lip balm, blush, and concealer. Her hair is always perfectly undone.
Just like Annika, you are dynamite ladies, juggling work and family and social activities. I love helping you with your wardrobes so you can focus on the important work you do. Thanks for inviting me to be a part of your lives!
Curious about what else we did during our Swedish themed stay-cation? We enjoyed meals at Broder, dreaded our one trip to Ikea via the exit doors, scored a few fashions by Acne, Cheap Monday, Rodebjer, Tretorn, and went for bike rides and walk-a-bouts. Aren’t stay-cations the best?!
Love,
Scarlet
