Easing into our fall garments means welcoming back hosiery. While this practical element sounds easy, it can actually be pretty perplexing trying to stay comfortable and current when choosing the right pair. Black opaque gets boring, busy patterns get confusing and what family do leggings belong in anyway?
In general, leggings are footless, nylons are sheer (the same as hose), and tights equate to everything else in between, including sweater and printed varieties. When exploring these options there is one major element to consider. Shoes! Start from the ground up.
Aquatalia ‘Vero’ Weatherproof Suede Pump
This heel is simple, classic and truly comfortable. Keeping the color of your shoes in the same family as your tights maximizes on your height. Shades of red are everything right now. Match these with a pair of “cabernet” herringbone tights, a short A-line skirt, silk blouse and long overcoat for an ultra stylish look!
Chie Mahara, Sar Leather Pumps
This heel provides several colors and patterns you can play up in order to make sure you’re elongating your frame. Match black sheer patterned hose to this shoe for a fun and flirty style. Throw on a basic black wrap dress and some signature jewels with this combo and you’ve got a memorable getup!
When you need to stay warm, sweater tights are the best. My favorite brand is MP. Go for solid colors, since they are naturally textured, and wear stacked heeled shoes like oxfords or ankle boots. This style by Frye is perfect! I’d pair these with oatmeal colored sweater tights, a belted silk dress and a long cashmere cardigan for a luxuriously cozy, cold weather outfit.
Low vamp styles look great on everyone. The ‘V’ shape brings the eye down from your ankle, giving you extra height and longer legs. Go for a sheer black or nude nylon to accentuate the reveal at the top of your foot. Pair with a midi skirt and knit top, adorned with your favorite silk scarf for a fashion forward and work appropriate look!
