Kinfolk is at Schoolhouse Electric tonight! If you’re not familiar with the publication, its mission is to help readers explore ways to simplify their lives and cultivate community while spending more time with family and friends. They’ve recently refreshed their approach and those who attend this event will have the opportunity to purchase Kinfolk’s winter edition before anyone else. An evening of drinks, discounts and cheer, Schoolhouse is also offering a very rare 15% off tonight!
MadeHere PDX is open! With local designers for men and women featuring some favorite lifestyle items, you gotta’ check this place out.
Melissa Joy Manning, one of my favorite jewelry designers, gave me lots of tips when I was starting out. She even went out of her way once to meet me in a cafe in NYC when I was en route to my next appointment. We have mutual friends, yes, but how often does someone take the time to help someone out in this way? A long time fixture at Una and now with statement pieces featured on Net-a-porter, she’s recently joined forces with Rachel Schwartzmann, Founder of The Style Line, to create a socially and environmentally responsible collection they call Echo.
We’ve featured a StyleLikeU, What’s Underneath video in a past post, but this mission is so powerful I wanted to share it with you again. In the words of Lily, Daughter in the StyleLikeU Mother/Daughter duo, “True style is not about money, trends, Photoshopped imagery or a singular ideal of beauty, it’s about the authentic person inside the clothes, their confidence, their spirit and their willingness to express themselves honestly.” They are turning What’s Underneath into a global movement captured in a documentary film!
Is anyone else obsessed with Pharrel Williams? He seems to emit genuine appreciation, love, and constructive criticism on The Voice, supporting each of his team members to let their unique light shine. Plus his style is all his own, he’s got no issues about his wife being taller than him (which I appreciate at 6’0”), and he’s an amazing dancer. I’ve become a huge fan. Did you know, I was born to dance? I’m constantly being told to post my outfits on social media, which I’ve shied away from for so long. So in true Scarlet form, I’m committing to posting danceagrams. A #danceagram is a little clip of me dancing in whatever I’m wearing. It’s a lighthearted way for me to share with you what I wear and where and how I shop for myself. I hope you like it! Here’s my first one!
