It’s winter time in the northern hemisphere and while snuggling up in fleece separates with hot cocoa in front of your laptop may be perfectly acceptable at your workplace, the truth is you want to step it up a notch because dressing well makes you feel prepared for what ever may come your way!
Your wardrobe must be fashionable and functional when braving the elements. Below are some outfit ideas and links to items we’ve found while working with clients that we think you may be interested in. Enjoy!
Sweater | Jeans | Earrings | Socks | Hair Sticks | Bag | Vest | Heels
I can’t wait to throw on my high density woolen sweater when the freezing cold temperatures arrive. You know, the kind of sweater one inherits from a Scottish relative. The tight weave repels rain and buffers the wind. It’s too bulky to fit under a leather jacket or even a rain coat, but this season’s trench vest is the perfect outer layer to look cool while you stay warm. Wear hair up in an elegant bun adorned with hair sticks. Rock those statement earrings you’ve kept tucked away for awhile. And trust me Portlanders, buy an umbrella, you’ll be fine! (I can say that only because I was born here and have yet to own a raincoat… but if I did, it would probably be this one). I dig the pointy toe boots at the end of the line, truly comfortable and waterproof!
Necklace | Wallet | Heels | Turtleneck | Skirt | Coat | Tights
Having grown up in the Midwest, it’s safe to say I know a little bit about keeping warm. And when it comes to winter fashion, I like to focus on my first love… layering. When temperatures drop, outfits get even grander with their ability to transform from one look to the next, simply by adding or shedding a layer. This skirt and tissue weight turtleneck combo is just the foundation for so many outfit possibilities. (Add in a long vest, another sweater or your favorite blazer!) A good cold weather coat is key. Snowman New York makes some of the most fashion forward and unique, puffer-style parkas I’ve ever seen! Lastly, my favorite piece from this look is this velvet ankle boot, a more affordable alternative to the stunning Dior Fall 2015 collection that I am so in love with.
Coat | Bracelets | Boots | Necklace | Scarf | Bag | Dress
A simple shift dress is the perfect silhouette for hiding warm base layers under, as well as an excellent canvas for wearing statement accessories over! A sophisticated lady coat and classic leather boots are a couple essentials we find in almost every woman’s wardrobe – practical and elegant. We like to think of this outfit as more of a reminder that you don’t have to sacrifice style when layers are required to keep out the chill. The colors in this bold necklace from Le Souk Le Souk tie all the solids in this ensemble together. The cashmere and silk scarf from Sabina’s Style is nice n’ toasty wrapped tightly around the neck or worn like a shawl. And these brass stackable bracelets are perfectly hollowed out to house the hair tie that’s constantly wrapped around your wrist waiting to be put to use. So cool!
