Malena Annable approached me a few weeks ago about Event Styling for the Oscars. She said, “My friend brought up your name in conversation today and recommended that I reach out to you. I am lucky enough to be going to the Oscars this year (my husband co-directed The Boxtrolls, nominated for Best Animated Feature), and I’m struggling to put together an outfit. I’ve done quite well finding clothes for the film’s premiere as well as for the upcoming BAFTA film awards in London next week, but … The Oscars? That’s insane pressure! I need help pulling a cohesive look together.”
Malena told me that she has been wearing vintage clothing since she was twelve years old. We stayed true to her style by working with Malena’s backless wedding gown, a classic 1930s-style Hollywood gown, which was gorgeous on her and perfect for the occasion. We had it dyed platinum. I pulled together modern accessories along with makeup & hair inspiration, and we sent her off! She sent a text from the red carpet saying “I am getting so many compliments, and strangers have stopped to comment on the necklace!” I am thrilled she felt prepared, in her element, comfortable, and glamorous. You are a stunner, Malena!
