Cheryl looked incredible at the Academy Awards on Sunday night. She said “I felt like a princess” and that is exactly what we were going for. She texted this picture from the red carpet.
Cheryl is wearing a custom gown by Michelle DeCourcy, a Portland based clothing designer who creates special occasion gowns and novelty separates. I worked directly with jewelry designer Judy Geib on the exquisite jewelry. The triple drop earrings are made of light colored emeralds. The ring is an opal, in rare brilliance. The cuff bracelet is made of opals and diamonds set in platinum and 22k yellow gold, entitled “Flotsam and Getsam”. Judy told me she had an image in her mind of the ocean and wanted to create it in gemstones and precious metals. I know that this is easier said than done. But she has accomplished it here; see it up close at Twist, it’s amazing! Cheryl’s clutch is by Ashlyn’d, which I found at Mercantile, and it has both gold and silver sand swishing around in the lucite container – so cool. Her shoes are by Naturalizer. Her makeup and nail polish are inspired by Spring’s fresh new colors that flatter her complexion.
Those of you who are fans of Cheryl know how inspiring she is. I can’t wait to see what’s next from her after the WILD ride. If you aren’t listening to Dear Sugar yet, tune in, it’s awesome. And keep an eye out for Reese’s #askhermore movement that encourages us all to appreciate what’s behind the fashion on the women of the red carpet. As much as I enjoy the sparkle and glamor, what makes a woman shine is the woman underneath… what’s in her heart, her mission, her passion, her reality, her work. Thank you for the opportunity to style you these last six months, Cheryl, this has been such an honor, and you shine bright like a star!
