Hot Rocks on a Platter was the first fashion event I ever produced. It was May Day, 2003. We took over the giant corner space on the first floor of the EcoTrust building before it even had walls. I brought in a generator, lighting, artwork, flowers, music, belly dancers, delicious food and gemstone elixirs. The models were my friends and each model had an angel who watched over them for the night. Over 30 local businesses contributed and more than 250 people showed up to participate in the magic. It was a gorgeous evening.
An event like that has everything to do with the people involved sharing a common vision. An event planner, at the core of the circle, will keep all the moving parts moving in sync. Back then I had Carmen, and I still use her company to this day.
Ella Events plans weddings and business gatherings, but really they create climates full of love and beauty. They have the perfect touch- I swear they sprinkle fairy dust over everyone and everything they are a part of, in a super professional way, of course! I’ve styled some of their brides and members of their wedding parties in the past and it’s always so much fun to hear about all the little details.
Our new collaborative blog series is called Trousseau | What To Wear Where. It’s packed with inspiration on what to do and what to wear on a honeymoon. In honor of Icelandair’s direct flight from Portland, we chose Iceland to highlight first. Enjoy!
